Design of public games.

.
In the summer of 2023/2024, the Municipality of San Carlos de Bariloche commissioned us to design and create a series of urban games. A series of milestones on the city’s waterfront promenade on Lake Nahuel Huapi.
Our objectives were – to cover a variety of ages and abilities to promote integration and community play – to make the most of existing resources – to innovate getting away from traditional playground games – to design robust and durable objects.
The games are:
The “Rolhamak”. Three hammocks that rotate 360°.
The “Tuboloco”. It is an open-design object that awakens creativity in its use. Is it a merry-go-round? Is it a seesaw? Is it a telescope? Is it a compass? Is it all of those things at once?
The “Trepatrap”. A climbing frame made of cypress trunks and steel cables from the lifts on Cerro Catedral. The challenge: turning it around completely.
The “Hula-hula” bridge. It is a bridge but it has the magic of pivoting from one side to the other. It is a game that people in wheelchairs can play but without being stigmatized by the design.
The “Chancletófono”. A musical game made up of tuned pipes forming a complete octave. Color-coded, the pipes struck by the flip-flops emit a very particular sound.
“Huesos”. This is a sculptural piece of furniture made of logs that works for balance-play or simply for sitting down to drink mate and look at the landscape.
The “Labyrinth”. Made with Oregon pine beams. It allows girls and boys to play hide and seek safely.
